Cottage Plans, Small House Plans and Cabin Plans You Can Purchase

While many architects and home designers have attempted to take advantage of the current trend for smaller homes by simply labeling any blueprints  with a smaller footprint as a cottage plan or cabin plan, there are relatively few who reflect a true “cottage style” in their small home plans.  Listed below you will find a collection of  cottage plans and small home plans which we believe exhibit a real understanding of the factors that are important in creating a cottage lifestyle and making smaller homes comfortable and affordable.

We will constantly strive to keep our readers informed of new cottage plans as they become available.  Each month we will showcase a new cottage plan from one of these or other architects.

Ross Chapin Company

Based on Whidbey Island in Washington's Puget Sound, Ross Chapin Architects is a nationally known award-winning firm with a reputation for designing wonderfully scaled and richly detailed cottages.  Many of their best cottage and small house plans are available through their plan division, Goodfit.

Moser Design Group

Eric Moser is noted for his cottage  plans and small home plaans, which have a distinctive Low Country feel and have been featured as the Cottage of the Year by Southern Living and Cottage  Living magazines, as well as in Susan Susanka’s book, Not So Big House.  With their use of wide covered porches and open, spacious interiors, these cottage plans appeal to anyone who loves cottage style and décor.

The Bungalow Company

Plans from the Bungalow Company emphasize handcrafted beauty, quality workmanship, and respect for natural materials. The result is a genuine bungalow home in the “Arts & Crafts” style, one which will endure far longer than a tract house with a craftsman facade. You’ll note that we don’t offer thousands of plans from which to choose— and for good reason. Our featured plans provide 95% of what our clients are looking for (we know because every one of these plans has already been built).
